Lakers' Derek Fisher Takes a Break From Basketball During the Off-Season, Should You?

Sometimes a brake can make all of the difference in the world. But only if you do it right. Read this quote from Derek Fisher published in the LA Times

"You think about only having [from] June 18 or 19 to Oct. 1 basically to give your body and your mind a chance to kind of reset and be ready to do it again; to me it just makes sense," Fisher said after Lakers' practice Monday. "But it's with the context of the additional training methods that I use."

Fisher said he does off-season exercise drills "so I don't need basketball to stay in shape."

Just don't sit idle and do nothing. Come up with a training program to keep you in shape and target other muscles than what you usually use while playing basketball. Also work on your core muscles and endurance. Just do something different than you usually do every once in a while during the off season. You will come back to the regular basketball more focused, rested and ready to take on new challenges.
